Homemade Wellness Shots for Immunity Boost

We are well into this crazy pandemic madness and it seems like there is no turning back now. A “new normal” is among us. This “new normal”, arguably, and depending on the perspective, is a good thing. However, while we are still actively battling rising COVID numbers due to all the variants and the relaxed mask mandates, we need to truly start looking at what we can do for our own health. So much feels out of our control, but one thing that we still have autonomy over is what we choose to consume. We know to wash our hands and stay 6ft away from people, but how about our internal health? Whether you are forced to get the vaccine or not (since it is not optional), you still need to protect you and your loved ones by taking your health into your own hands. Nothing is better at fighting any kind of disease or infection than a sound body and mind.
Here’s where the immunity boost comes in. Honestly, we should have been taking this as a family before COVID, but now we take it and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Our immunity boost is all natural of course and anyone can make it. We take 1 shot a day but may consider increasing our dose.
The recipe below fills two 16oz mason jars and last about 2 weeks for a family of 2. We store it in the refrigerator.
Ingredients:
3 Ginger Roots
3 Turmeric Roots
3 Garlic cloves (individual pieces not 3 whole knobs)
2 Cups Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Honey (more or less to taste)
Juice of 6 limes
Juice of 6 lemons
2 Teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
2 Teaspoons Black Pepper
Directions:
Grate the ginger, turmeric and garlic. Meanwhile, start boiling water to put in a glass tea pitcher similar to this.
Steep the grated ginger, turmeric and garlic in the tea pitcher. Let sit overnight.
The next morning, pour the water from the steeped herbs into a larger container and add the rest of the ingredients.
Pour into two 160z mason jars and refrigerate.
Extra tip * The ingredients will settle at the bottom so shake the mason jar well right before you drink.
Our family has not contracted COVID that we know of despite living in NYC which was at one point like a mecca for the virus. We do other things to stay physically active and mentally sane so we can’t solely credit these immunity shots for keeping us virus-free, but we definitely feel that it makes a difference.
I encourage you to play around with the measurements until you find what feels or taste good (doubt it). Anybody who takes apple cider vinegar knows it is not a favorable taste, especially when you add cayenne pepper to the mix lol.
Lastly, I want to leave you with this, protect your mental space by all means. It can be difficult to unplug from the matrix, especially now that we rely on the internet so much. But still, take back your peace. Stress and anxiety causes havoc in your gut. Since we know COVID attacks the gut and oral biome, take special care of both. Things like swishing coconut oil every morning in your mouth can help. Breath work, meditation, grounding, nature walks— all of these things are free and easily accessible.
